The diary of Charles Rowcroft, the first British consul general of Peru, was written in 1824 in a Dunn's Law and Commercial Remembrancer of 1824. The diary gives an account of his maritime travel to Peru, his daily work, and impressions of Lima. Although it is a small volume (Rowcroft was killed in December the year he arrived) it provides interesting insights on British-Peruvian relations in the critical period of Peruvian independence. The manuscript was found at the Bodleian library. Edited by Mauricio Novoa (editor of Peru & Great Britain: A history in common) and Alban McCoy (St. Edmunds College, Cambridge).
