A few years ago, the Peruvian Society of Environmental Law (SPDA) started working on initiatives aimed at generating the conditions for the indigenous peoples to obtain legal certainty over their lands. The proposals are based on the country having an integrated land management system, wherein Indigenous Peoples can preserve and transmit to future generations their traditional (ancestral) knowledge. With time, our legal vision has expanded into a multi-stakeholder work ethodology covering various dimensions, such as communication strategies, technical support and social commitment. We formulated, implemented, and perfected a strategy with core objectives: protecting
the rights of indigenous peoples and securing land tenure.
